On June 1, Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, warned that the next pandemic might be an intentional act, perhaps triggered by a bioterrorism attack. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Gates has repeatedly issued warnings, calling on countries to cooperate to prevent the next pandemic. As early as a few years ago, Gates predicted a large-scale global epidemic.

In a recent media interview in Spain, Gates was asked what the next pandemic might look like. Gates said that the next virus causing the outbreak may be a virus we already know, such as influenza or other coronaviruses.

At the same time, gates did not rule out the possibility that the next pandemic was deliberately caused by man, and predicted that the bioterrorism attack might be an inducement. He said: "it may be a virus made by humans, designed and deliberately spread by bioterrorism. This is a very terrible situation, because attackers may try to spread the virus in different places at the same time."

Gates also believes that the probability of a natural outbreak of a pandemic in the next 20 years is as high as 50%. "With the rapid growth of population, we are invading more and more ecosystems. For this reason, I calculated that we have a 50% chance of seeing a natural pandemic in the next 20 years due to climate change," he said

Asked how to prevent this from happening, Gates said he called for a 25 percent increase in the World Health Organization (who) budget. At present, Gates has provided 10% of the fund for this institution through his Gates Foundation. The money may be used to fund an organization of 3000 people called the "global epidemic response and mobilization team", which will always work to find the source of the virus outbreak.

Gates was also asked about the influence of various conspiracy theories on him since the outbreak of new coronavirus pneumonia. Many suspicious voices said that Gates was using the epidemic situation as a way to inject microchips with tracking function into the human body. Others claim that Gates has some connection with monkeypox that has recently appeared around the world.

In this regard, Gates said that to some extent, he is now "used to it", but he called these remarks "very sad".

Gates said: "if some people do not get vaccinated or do not want to wear masks because of these rumors, it will lead to terrible consequences. Some people die because they find that they believe in the simple evil doctor theory rather than admit that it is biology, which makes the cause of disease easier."

This is not the first time that Gates predicted a possible global pandemic. In 2015, Gates said that compared with war, influenza is the most likely potential cause of mass death. "If something kills more than 10million people in the next few decades, it is most likely a highly contagious virus, not a war," he said at the time

In addition, since 2021, Gates has been talking about using the so-called "bacteria game" to practice how to monitor and respond to smallpox virus. He once said: "the World Health Organization's epidemic task force may need about $1billion a year. The task force is monitoring and practicing what I call the 'bacteria game' in practice. You may want to know, what if bioterrorists bring smallpox virus to 10 airports? How will the world react to it?"

In late 2021, the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) cooperated with the Munich Security Conference to conduct a simulation exercise similar to that described by gates. NTI assumed that monkeypox virus would appear in may2022. By the end of the exercise, NTI reported that the virtual pandemic had infected more than 3billion people worldwide and killed 270Million people.
