Emirates Telecom Acquired 9.8% Of Vodafone, Worth About $4 Billion

Emirates Telecom did not disclose the purchase price, but said it had purchased about 2.77 billion shares of Vodafone. Vodafone shares closed at 117.82p on Friday.

Emirates Telecom said it saw the investment as an effective use of its attractive balance sheet and an opportunity to realize future value. The company also said the acquisition could lead to possible business cooperation in the future.
