At the i/o developer conference held earlier this month, Google announced the upcoming pixel 7 and pixel 7 Pro. According to the official rendering of the back, the camera module design of pixel 6 series is used. Today, the screen details of these two mobile phones were exposed.

The pixel 7 is equipped with a panel with 1080x2400 resolution and 90hz refresh rate, while the pixel 7 Pro has a screen resolution of 1440x3120 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. If you want to know why these numbers sound familiar -- it's because they are exactly the same as the pixel 6 and pixel 6 Pro launched last year.

This message comes from the Android open source project (AOSP). Technology media 9to5google dug deep into AOSP code and found that Google created two new display drivers, one marked C10 and the other marked P10. The code for pixel 7 is cheetah (hence "C") and the code for pixel 7 Pro is panther (hence "P").

The code mining also shows that the pixel 7 and pixel 7 Pro will actually use the display panel made by Samsung, which is the same as the previous generation products. The models are s6e3fc3 and s6e3hc3 respectively.

However, Google has been working hard to support s6e3hc4, which may be a new generation version of the pixel 6 Pro panel, and may eventually appear on the pixel 7 Pro. Since the resolution and refresh rate remain the same, the only improvements may come from quality, brightness, power consumption, or any combination of these.

Pixel 7 will be a little smaller than pixel 6, so the display panel will also be reduced by 1mm and 2mm respectively. On the other hand, the pixel 7 Pro is the same size as the pixel 6 Pro, and so is its screen.
