Uber eats is the food delivery department of Uber. It is launching nationwide transportation services. This new product will allow customers all over the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) to obtain specialty food from specific merchants in New York City, Miami and Los Angeles. This new feature was launched a few weeks after Uber announced a series of products under its ride and delivery platform, which are designed to target new users and provide as many services as possible to existing customers.
Uber spokesman said: "we are committed to becoming a platform for consumers to get anything (such as their favorite food all over the country), and to find new and diversified ways to help businesses develop their business." he pointed out that both customers and businesses need to provide nationwide transportation services.
Uber freight, which connects shippers and carriers, will not be part of this new product. On the contrary, nationwide transportation will be realized through cooperation with FedEx. According to Uber, FedEx will deliver food within an average of four to five working days.
Starting this week, customers can visit the first 15 merchants, such as bludso's BBQ or gotta have S'more in Los Angeles, sarge's deli or wafels & in New York City; Dinges, and sabores market or doggi's arepa bar in Miami. Uber said it intended to expand the number of merchants on its platform, but did not share a timetable.
Customers interested in placing orders can access the product on the Uber eats application, and the nationwide transportation will be displayed on the main screen. After the user selects the merchant of their choice, selects items for the shopping cart and places an order, they will receive an email with a FedEx package tracking number.
Uber spokesperson said that if businesses have cooperated with Uber eats and want to list the transportation range of their goods as the whole country, they can contact their account manager. The merchant needs to pack and transport the goods to the designated place. Uber eats provides a shipping label and insert with all necessary instructions for consumers.
