During Monday's "what's next" event, WD brought a series of products under the sub brands of SanDisk professional and SanDisk This includes the enterprise class G-Drive Pro studio desktop solid state drive with an internal capacity of up to 7.68 TB, which was exposed at the NAB exhibition earlier, and brings a 20tb ultrastar mechanical hard disk option to the g-raid shuttle 8 family (a total capacity of 160tb in eight slots).

The newly released product aims to solve the storage bottleneck of high-capacity content creators. The arrival of SanDisk professional pro-blade modular SSD ecosystem makes us happy.

It is reported that Western Digital has built a compact shell for its PCIe 3.0 X4 nvme SSD, supplemented by customized but non proprietary connectors, and there are two methods to connect the pro-blade SSD MAG to the host system.

Among them, pro-blade transport is a portable sleeve that supports a single MAG, while pro-blade station is a JBOD version focusing on desktop experience (up to four MAGS).

The main market positioning of pro-blade product line is for professionals and professional consumers who need multiple high-speed portable drives for on-site content capture and backup, and need to quickly return to the editing desk at the same time.

Compared with the previous system use cases limited to heavy-duty multi mechanical hard disk (HDD), Western Digital easily takes into account the application scenario of portable (only 42 pounds) and storage integration through the pro-blade product line (a set of drives weighs less than 7 pounds).

As professional shooting devices supporting usb-c SSD direct recording become more and more popular, pro-blade transport can not only meet this demand, but also mount MAG storage stick directly to JBOD pro-blade station desktop storage cabinet.

According to the actual workflow needs, users can freely equip with the number of "magazines". In terms of hardware interface, SSD MAG adopts 40 pin custom pin and supports hot plug. In addition, the aluminum alloy shell not only helps SSD heat dissipation, but also can withstand a 3M drop, supplemented by a compressive strength of 4000 pounds.

In terms of durability, the official nominal MAG storage stick can be used with the transport / station storage box for more than 2000 times.

In terms of performance, the custom connector is designed to ensure that the native transmission rate of the built-in SSD is not lost, and the sequential reading can reach 3 GB / s and writing can reach 2.6 Gbps.

The transport storage box also uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 × 2 (20 Gbps) type-C host connection port, and can provide additional heat dissipation bonus for the aluminum shell of MAG storage rod.

The desktop station storage cabinet is upgraded to the lightning 3 host interface, which can maximize the data transmission experience of MAG storage stick, supplemented by enough ventilation slots and active heat dissipation scheme.

As for the SanDisk sub brand, the company launched a new SD / microSD shape extreme Pro uhs-i memory card.

Compared with the previous generation extreme Pro uhs-i (170 MB / s), the main difference is that it supports a read rate of up to 200 MB / s.

In order to give full play to the performance, users can unlock the high-speed data transmission experience through the supporting pro-reader card reader. If an ordinary card reader is used, the transmission rate of this series of memory cards will fall to the level of uhs-i.

Finally, users in need can also use it with the pro-dock4 docking station launched during the SanDisk professional brand launch in May 2021.
