On May 14, the first Buddhist Vesak Day in Singapore since the lifting of social restrictions, Thekchen Choling held its first "Pet Blessing Party", which attracted more than 2,000 people with their pets, including cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, birds and fish. "The Day of Vesak is a traditional Southern Buddhist festival commemorating the birth, attainment and nirvana of Sakyamuni, which is celebrated on the first full moon day in May every year. Buddhism was first introduced to Singapore by Chinese immigrants and is now the country's number one religion, with Buddhists accounting for about 31.1% of the population.
