After Acquiring Intel Flash Memory, SK Hynix Announced A New 3D NAND Factory In China

In September 2020, SK Hynix announced that it would spend US $9 billion to acquire Intel's NAND flash memory business, and completed the first phase of the transaction at the end of last year, taking over Intel's flash memory business, including the flash memory chip factory in Dalian, China. Recently, SK Hynix announced to build a new flash memory factory in China, its nonvolatile memory manufacturing project started in Dalian, Liaoning Province. The project will build a new wafer factory to produce nonvolatile memory 3D NAND chip products**

Zheng Yintai, President of SK Hynix Semiconductor (China), said that SK Hynix regards China as an important partner and has always maintained friendly and cooperative relations with China.

While building a new NAND flash memory plant in Dalian, SK Hynix also expanded the production capacity of factories in Wuxi and Chongqing through additional investment, and focused on promoting projects in China in many different fields, such as 8-inch wafer OEM joint ventures, industrial parks, schools, hospitals and so on.

This new project will not only help to enhance the industrial competitiveness of Dalian factory, but also help to ensure the stability of the supply chain in the Chinese market

Subsequently, SK Hynix will work closely with Dalian municipal government and Intel Dalian team to complete the construction of the new factory as planned and build the Dalian factory into an internationally competitive NAND flash memory production base.
