ESA astronaut Samantha cristoforetti shared a set of beautiful photos of the total lunar eclipse seen from orbit. "The partially obscured moon is playing hide and seek with our solar panels," cristoforetti tweeted on Monday.

These photos show an ongoing lunar eclipse, with the moon "peeping" under the space station's solar panels. An amazing photo also shows the earth below, with clouds clearly visible in a large blue. When our planet casts shadows on the moon, these images highlight the subtle shadows of the moon.

Cristoforetti also shared another photo in which only the dim moon "peeps" from the curve of the earth.

She was a successful photographer on the international space station in 2014. Her most recent stop was in late April as part of NASA's crew-4 mission launched by SpaceX.
