Slashdata recently released 2022 developer status survey 》, it provides new insights into the new technologies concerned by global software developers. According to a survey of more than 20000 programmers, they have the highest enthusiasm for learning blockchain applications, cryptocurrencies and non homogenous tokens (NFT)**

More than a third (34%) of developers surveyed said they were learning cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin - not surprisingly, as the adoption of digital currencies continued to grow globally. 16% (16%) said they were actively carrying out encryption related projects.

NFT is another "encrypted neighbor" technology, and its money making potential has not been ignored by developers: 11% of developers are currently studying this technology. Slashdata calls it "a potentially profitable niche market" for those who do participate ". Nearly a third (32%) of developers surveyed by slashdata said they were reviewing NFT knowledge.

Similarly, 30% of developers are learning blockchain applications other than cryptocurrency. Slashdata found that while developers' adoption of blockchain applications has stagnated compared to a year ago, interest in blockchain applications and cryptocurrencies has increased the most among all technologies. The report found that only 12% of developers are currently engaged in blockchain projects, which is only 1% higher than slashdata's first quarter report of 2021.

These three encryption related technologies have the highest adoption and learning rate of all technologies included in the slashdata report - for each technology, at least 30% of participating developers are actively learning these technologies. The next most popular technologies are metaworld and AI assisted software development: 28% of developers are learning these technologies.

Slashdata's 2022 developer country report surveyed respondents from 166 countries / regions around the world, covering developer communities in the fields of mobile, desktop, industrial Internet of things, consumer electronics, embedded, third-party application ecosystem, cloud, network, games, augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as machine learning and data science.

The report also provides some important insights into the use and popularity of various programming languages and the tools developers use in their daily work.

The report found that JavaScript is still the most popular programming language, which is used by nearly 17.5 million developers around the world. Python has been the second most widely used language since it surpassed java two years ago and now has 15.7 million users.

Meanwhile, rust has almost tripled in size over the past 24 months, from 600000 developers in the first quarter of 2020 to 2.2 million in the first quarter of 2022. Go and ruby are important languages in back-end development, but the growth rate of go in the past is more than twice that of slashdata discovery, which is an absolute year.

"Rust has formed a very strong community of developers who are concerned about performance, memory security and security. Therefore, it is mainly used for Internet of things software projects and AR / VR development. It is most commonly used to implement the low-level core logic of AR / VR applications," the report said.
