Heinz wants to put classic ketchup in a paper package

Heinz has announced that it is working with sustainable packaging company Pulpex to create 'paper bottles' for its classic ketchup, replacing the now-popular plastic bottles.

The plan is that the two companies will create a paper bottle that is 100% made from wood pulp for easy post-recycling.

The move comes after Kraft Heinz set a series of sustainability goals to replace its entire product line with recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging by 2025.

However, while Heinz has let it be known that it's making ketchup in paper bottles, it's hard to say exactly when it will hit the shelves.

Right now, the parties have only prototyped and the next step is to go through various performance tests and consumer testing.
