Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in the downstream main stream of Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia county, Yunnan Province. It is a national major project for the implementation of "power transmission from the west to the East". It is the largest hydropower project under construction in the world with the highest technical difficulty. A total of 16 independently developed water turbine generator units with the largest single unit capacity in the world are installed, with a total installed capacity of 16million kW.

The construction of the main works of Baihetan Hydropower Station was fully commenced in July 2017. The first batch of units will be put into operation on time on June 28, 2021, and the general assembly of units will be completed on May 20, 2022. Up to now, of the 16 million KW water turbine generator units, 8 have been put into operation for power generation, 2 have been connected to the grid, 2 have met the grid connection conditions, 2 have completed the general assembly and commissioning, and 2 have completed the general assembly. The units that have been put into operation have stable operation and excellent indicators, and the cumulative production of clean electric energy has exceeded 26.5 billion kwh. The follow-up unit commissioning work is being carried out in an orderly manner.

At present, all the units put into operation are in stable operation, with excellent indicators, and all meet the high-quality standards. Next, we will jointly participate in the construction of all parties, scientifically organize the follow-up unit commissioning work, conduct strict diagnosis and analysis, and promote the follow-up unit commissioning tasks with high quality, so as to lay a solid foundation for putting all units into operation and generating electricity Solid foundation. The electric energy of Baihetan Hydropower Station will be delivered through two ± 800 kV HVDC transmission projects, namely "Baihetan Jiangsu" and "Baihetan Zhejiang", to provide strong power support for Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, effectively increase the proportion of clean energy in the region, promote the transformation of energy structure, and inject strong green power into the economic development of the Yangtze River Delta.
