There is a new fraud in the coin circle! Because of Musk's appeal in the currency circle, all the digital currencies mentioned by musk can soar, so some people are eyeing musk. However, compared with pretending to be Musk's Twitter account before, this scam is more "real". It directly used deepfake to forge Musk's interview video and endorse a cryptocurrency trading platform called bitvex.

In this "false" interview, musk said that the bitvex cryptocurrency trading platform was created by himself and promised that within three months, any cryptocurrency deposit would have a 30% return every day.

It is worth noting that the person who interviewed the fake "Musk" was "chrisanderson", the chairman of Ted, but it was also forged with deepfake.

Since May, the scam has imitated many celebrities in the currency circle

It is reported that bleeping computer was the first person to find and report this fake video.

Bleeping computer found that since early May, a group of people have created or invaded existing YouTube accounts and uploaded deepfake videos of Elon Musk, Cathie wood, Brad garringhouse, Michael Saylor and Charles hoskinson.

The scripts of these videos are similar. They are all for a platform called bitvex cryptocurrency trading platform, which claims that this platform can bring 30% of the basic revenue every day.

However, if you look carefully, you can see that these videos are forged, and the forged technology is also our old acquaintance deepfake.

However, after such a long period of iteration, the video generated by deepfake is really realistic. If you don't look carefully, it's really easy to be fooled.

In contrast, the official website of the bitvex cryptocurrency trading platform is even more fake. In the introduction of the official website, the platform claims that Elon Musk is its CEO, and there are recitations by Cathy wood, CEO of ark investment, and zhaochangpeng, CEO of binance.

To use the bitvex platform, users must register an account at the given website. After logging in, the website will display a dashboard where you can deposit various cryptocurrencies, choose an investment plan, or withdraw your earnings. Like all other cryptocurrency scams, the dashboard shows the latest withdrawals of various cryptocurrencies, making the site look very real.

The truth is that these withdrawal records are only randomly generated in the background. One of the five different cryptocurrencies (Cardano, Ethereum, bitcoin, ripple or coin) is randomly selected and the withdrawal amount is randomly generated.

Fortunately, bleeping computer found that this scam did not seem very successful. Until now, only 1700 US dollars of deposits have been observed to enter this cryptocurrency address. However, these addresses are likely to rotate, so the amount cheated may be more.

Counterfeiting celebrity endorsements in the coin circle can really make a lot of money

It may be hard for us to believe that such a scam can also get money, but in fact, more fake money circle scams have been successful.

Earlier this year, a scam with the theme of ark investment publicized on YouTube just replayed an edited video of Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey and Kathy wood discussing cryptocurrency on the spot, stealing more than 1.3 million dollars.

A lot of scams of "giving money" posed as musk are even more interesting.

In november2020, someone announced on twitter in the name of musk that in order to celebrate the launch of the rocket, bitcoin and ether will be given free of charge. As long as people put their bitcoin or ether into a specific address, they will get twice the reward.

In addition, it is also emphasized that the "luxury prize" - model s electric vehicle will be given extra weight. As long as you send 4 BTC or 150 eth to the designated address first, you can have a chance to get it.

Such scams have occurred more than once, and the amount of money cheated has exceeded 600000 US dollars.

It is precisely because these scams have become so widespread and profitable that the Federal Trade Commission issued a report warning that since october2020, the cryptocurrency investment scam has caused a cumulative loss of US $80million.

So, if you come across any website that guarantees a steady profit or free cryptocurrency, it is almost always a scam, especially those websites that claim to be from Elon Musk, Tesla, SpaceX, ark investment and Gemini investment.
