According to German media RBB, Tesla is planning a large-scale expansion of its glenhead plant in Germany (Tesla Berlin plant). RBB quoted authorities as saying that Tesla hopes to buy about 100 hectares of land to the east of the current site. At present, Tesla has about 300 hectares of land; It is reported that the expanded area will be used to build charging stations and storage areas.

Tesla CEO musk once said at the opening day of Tesla's Texas plant this year that Tesla produced about 1 million vehicles in 2021, accounting for about 1% of the world's total automobile production. In the future, Tesla's production capacity can reach 20% of the global automobile production.

The news of Tesla's expansion of the German factory further confirmed Musk's previous remarks.

The land area to be purchased is about 100 hectares, which still needs the approval of the authorities before construction

It is reported that the area to be expanded by Tesla is located between RE1 railway line and L23 and L38 rural roads, with an area of about 100 hectares. Most of the land belongs to Brandenburg state, and the price has not been determined.

If the authorities decide to sell the land at the same price as the first 300 hectares, the value of the land will be about 13 million euros (about 91.88 million yuan).

It is worth noting that after Tesla purchases land, it needs to obtain the municipal license of glenhead before starting construction, and the construction plan needs to obtain the permission of all authorities, including local citizens and environmental protection associations.

The area includes water conservation areas and trees, and the water required for the construction and operation of glenhead plant has aroused the dissatisfaction of some local residents. The new expansion plan will once again arouse the same concerns of residents.

Previously, environmental groups were dissatisfied with Tesla's cutting down a large number of trees on the land of existing factories.

The advantage of this land to Tesla is that the power supplier EDIS has built a substation on 6 hectares of land in 2021, which can also supply power to Tesla.

Geographically, this area is close to railway lines and public routes, with convenient transportation. Tesla has said in 2020 that most supplier products will be transported by train to European factories. Similarly, the new Tesla cars leaving the factory will also be transported by railway to the markets in various regions of Europe.

Conclusion: Tesla continues to improve production capacity

In March this year, Tesla glenhead plant began to put into operation. In less than two months, Tesla started the plant expansion plan, which is enough to show Tesla's determination to improve production capacity.

Tesla previously announced that it hopes to receive as many parts and supplier products as possible through railways and ships, and transport most of the vehicles produced by greenhalun factory to the market through railways.

Therefore, the railway system is very important for Tesla's raw materials and new car transportation. The new expansion plan will obviously promote the connection between Tesla and the German railway system.
