Techweb reported on May 16 that in recent weeks, Tesla's super charging station in the United States has repeatedly cut off the charging cable. It is unclear why. Many live pictures have appeared on social platforms, attracting the attention of netizens. For example, at a super charging station in Cincinnati, the charging cable on a charging pile was cut, leaving only a few centimeters left on the charging pile.

According to Tesla technicians responsible for replacing the damaged cable, there were two acts of cable damage in a few days. The damaged charging point is just out of sight of the surveillance camera.

Considering that the destroyer left only a short charging cable, some people speculate that it is likely to steal the copper in the cable and sell it as waste. This seems to be a possible explanation for the destruction of electric vehicle charging stations, but the destruction of a super charging station in Los Angeles shows that there are other possible factors, such as the deliberate destruction of public property by some people.

Pictures on social platform reddit show that many super charging pile cables in urban areas have been cut off, similar to that in Cincinnati. However, in Los Angeles, each damaged charging pile still retains a long cable. Obviously, if the destroyer's goal is to obtain as much copper as possible, it is a bit "wasteful".

The reason behind the destruction of the super charging station is unclear, but these events undoubtedly brought trouble to Tesla owners across the United States. I hope Tesla can take action to combat this kind of sabotage as soon as possible, at least before the company opens its super charging station network to other brands of electric vehicles.
