As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, the American Computer Society (ACM) is "opening up most of its archives so that its publication records of the first 50 years - more than 117500 documents from 1951 to 2000 can be accessed by the public without login".

Vicki L. Hanson, chief executive of the organization, noted that the ACM digital library program is part of a broader effort to provide its archives through open access by 2025. "Our goal is to open it within a few years, but the costs associated with [open access work ] are very realistic," Hanson said Therefore, the organization is still trying to complete its open access work.

Among these collections are some of the things you expect: technical papers, magazine articles and research papers, many of which highlight the history of computers - for example, one of the earliest documents published by ACM is about the groundbreaking UNIVAC system. But this treasure house also involves the core content of ACM itself, including many works related to the creation and operation of the organization. The digital library also includes in-depth records of early meetings.

The opening of ACM digital archives is one of many components to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the organization - the largest of which is a celebration group, which will be held on June 10 as a mixed event, bringing together celebrities in the field of computer science, such as Danah Boyd, a famous social media scholar at Microsoft Research Institute, jure leskovec at Stanford University and Hal Varian, chief economist at Google. ACM also highlights its history on its social media channels, including the display of famous papers in its archives.
