According to the plan, Intel will launch the 13th generation Raptor Lake desktop processor later this year, and compete directly with the AMD Raptor 7000 Series CPU that has replaced the new Am5 platform However, earlier today, @oneraichu disclosed on twitter that the core i9-13900k may have a 15% higher single thread performance improvement than alder Lake flagship (i9-12900k) Compared with r9-5950x, i9-13900k even leads by 35%.

@Oneraichu quoted geekbench 5's benchmark test results in the disclosure. It can be seen that the upcoming Raptor Lake flagship desktop processor can exceed 2300 points.

For comparison, the i9-12900k score of alder lake-s family is only about 2000 points, while that of AMD Zen 3 Raptor r9-5950x is around 1700 points.

If the data is reliable, the single thread performance of the i9-13900k will lead the i9-12900k / r9-5950x by 15% and 35% respectively.

For the new generation of flagship desktop processors that include more cores / threads and higher cache and clock speeds (reportedly 5.8 GHz), such a big improvement is quite gratifying.

But what we are more interested in is how much advantage can the i9-13900k maintain compared with AMD's upcoming Zen 4 Reebok 7000 series Am5 desktop processor code named Raphael?

It is said that the single thread performance of ryzen 7000 desktop CPU has been improved by more than 15% (estimated or between 16~19%), and the final score may fall in the range of 1800~1900 points.

If so, the single thread performance of AMD Zen 3 chip is "only slightly slower than that of Intel alder Lake CPU", but Raptor lake is expected to widen the gap between amd Zen 3 chip and Zen 4 chip to about 20%.

Of course, we do not rule out that AMD has "reservations" during the PPT presentation of the keynote speech of Computex 2022. In that case, the gap between the finished products of both sides may be narrowed to a rather subtle level.

Finally, Intel's 13th generation Raptor Lake desktop CPU, including the i9-13900k flagship SKU, is expected to debut with the new z790 platform in October and compete fiercely with the AMD Raptor 7000 series launched in the autumn.
