On May 24, David Beasley, an official of the United Nations World Food Program, said on Monday local time that he still hoped that the world's richest man Elon Musk would stand up and help solve the problem of global hunger. Last year, Beasley argued with Musk on twitter about how super rich can help solve the global hunger crisis. However, at the world economic forum, Beasley said he was ready to meet with musk to explain his ideas in detail, even if the two had not been in direct contact yet.

But Bisley said on the sidelines of the panel discussion: "we have made indirect contacts through friends, relatives and representatives of the United Nations. There are many rich people in the world who can stand up, not just musk, but we still hope to persuade him to stand up."

Beasley, a former governor of South Carolina, said in an interview last October that musk could help solve the problem of global hunger with only 2% of his net assets. "Six billion dollars can help 42 million people. If we don't help them, they will die," he said

In response to Beasley's challenge, musk said that if the world food programme could provide more information on how to use these funds, he would sell $6 billion worth of Tesla shares and donate them to the agency.

At the group meeting, Bisley also said that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine exacerbated the global food crisis and helped push inflation to its highest level in decades. "Because of this crisis, we take food from the hungry and distribute it to other hungry people," he said (small)
