International semiconductor Consortium (ISMC) is a new joint venture jointly founded by next orbit ventures in Abu Dhabi and tower semiconductor in Israel. At present, the company is preparing to make a large-scale investment It is said that the consortium is considering investing no less than US $3 billion to build a new chip foundry in Karnataka, India

The interesting thing is that tower semiconductor is being replaced by Intel Acquisition, which means that Intel will replace tower in the consortium before the completion of the new plant.

At present, there is not much information about ISMC, but the planned chip factory will be one of the first batch of OEM factories in India and the largest OEM factory in India. So far, ISMC has only signed a memorandum of understanding with the Karnataka government, so things may still change. The new plant is expected to bring 1500 direct jobs and about 10000 indirect jobs to the region.

However, the $10 billion incentive provided by India's central government may be part of the reason behind the decision. Tower semiconductor specializes in various special process technologies, such as SiGe, BiCMOS and SOI, and manufactures mixed signal and RFCMOS chips for its customers, as well as CMOS based image sensors, power management chips, various types of nonvolatile memories and some MEMS products.
