Tesla is sending a new in car reminder advising owners to charge during off peak hours, "the heat wave is expected to affect the power grid in Texas in the next few days. According to reports, the Texas power reliability Commission (ercot) said that on Friday, six of its power generation facilities failed, resulting in a loss of about 2900 megawatts of power.

Subsequently, ercot advised people to set the air conditioner at 78 degrees Fahrenheit (25.56 degrees Celsius) or above and avoid large appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and dryers during peak hours.
