According to reports, the Texas power reliability Commission (ercot) said that on Friday, six of its power generation facilities failed, resulting in a loss of about 2900 megawatts of power.
Subsequently, ercot advised people to set the air conditioner at 78 degrees Fahrenheit (25.56 degrees Celsius) or above and avoid large appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and dryers during peak hours.
