iFixit Full Score Modular Notebook Framework Launches Updated Version

On May 19, Framework, a modular notebook manufacturer with a strong following in the Linux community, launched a new generation of products. The new products feature upgraded processors to 12th generation Intel Core processors, with i5-1240P, i7-1260P and i7-1280P options; a redesigned removable top cover that switches to a full CNC process for increased strength; and an Ethernet expansion module. System-wise, the new Framework version already supports the just-released Fedora 36. The new Framework notebooks start at $1,049 and require pre-orders; thanks to the fully modular design, those who bought the previous generation can upgrade themselves with the new motherboard and top cover ($538). Previously, iFixit rated Framework products a perfect 10 out of 10 for serviceability. source

HP also recently announced a partnership with open source manufacturer System76 to launch laptops powered by AMD Ryzen 7 processors and pre-installed with the Linux distribution Pop!_OS, starting at $1,099.
