Samsung officially launches UFS 4.0 flash memory

On May 4, Samsung officially announced its UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 4.0 storage solution. UFS 4.0 offers speeds of up to 23.2Gbps per lane, twice the speed of Samsung's predecessor, UFS 3.1. With Samsung's 7th generation V-NAND technology and proprietary controller, UFS 4.0 will deliver sequential read speeds of 4200MB/s and sequential write speeds of 2800MB/s. In terms of energy efficiency, UFS 4.0 will deliver sequential read speeds of 6.0MB/s per mA (milliampere), a 46% increase over the previous generation. Also, to make efficient use of space, UFS 4.0 will be available in a compact package measuring 11 mm × 13 mm × 1 mm and will offer a variety of capacity options up to 1 TB. UFS 4.0 is scheduled to start mass production in the third quarter of this year. source

AMD Announces Riptide 7000 Series Product Roadmap
